Got a rust bucket on the lawn? Learn the process of deregistration and scrapping your old car.
1. Deregistration
Before you scrap a car, take the license plates to an AA centre or VTNZ and fill out an MR15 form to deregister it. This stops you from being liable for future rego fees.
2. Is it Rolling?
Scrap dealers pay more if they can easily collect the car. If the car has wheels and rolls, it's easy. If it's a shell on blocks, you might need a Hiab (crane truck).
3. Transport to the Yard
If the car isn't road legal, you can't drive it to the scrap yard. Drivon offers "end-of-life" transport rates to move your vehicle to the wreckers so you can cash it in.
