Incorrect tire pressure reduces fuel economy and increases blowout risk. Here is a general guide for different vehicle types.
Why Pressure Matters
Under-inflated tires overheat and wear out edges. Over-inflated tires reduce grip and wear out the center.
General Recommendations (Check your placard)
- Small Cars: Typically 30-32 PSI.
- Sedans / SUVs: Often 32-35 PSI.
- Fully Loaded / Towing: Rear tires may need 40+ PSI (refer to manual).
- 4WD Off-Road: Lower pressures (18-25 PSI) are often used on sand/mud, but must be reinflated for tarmac.
Always check pressure when tires are cold for accuracy.
