Not all tow trucks are the same. Ensure you request the right type of recovery for your specific vehicle situation.
1. Slide Deck / Flatbed (The Gold Standard)
The entire back of the truck tilts and slides to the ground. Your car is winched up and sits completely flat on the deck.
- Best For: 4WDs/AWDs (prevents drivetrain damage), lowered cars, prestige vehicles, and cars with severe accident damage.
- Why: No wheels touch the road, eliminating wear and tear or transmission issues.
2. Wheel-Lift Towing
The truck lifts the front (or rear) wheels of your car off the ground, leaving the other two rolling on the road.
- Best For: Short-distance city tows, tight parking buildings where a flatbed cannot fit.
- Warning: You generally cannot tow an AWD/4WD vehicle this way unless dollies are used under the other wheels.
3. Trailer Towing
If you are towing a caravan or trailer when you break down, you need a specific solution. Standard tow trucks can often take the car, but leaving the trailer behind is risky. Drivon offers solutions to tow both, or can arrange a second unit for the trailer.
